Appointments

Urgent Care & Walk-Ins |
|
It is recommended that you call the clinic of
your Primary Care Physician (PCP) at least two
weeks prior to the time you want to come in for
an office visit. It is also recommended that you
arrive at the clinic 15 to 30 minutes prior to
your appointment time in order to register. Even
though we try very hard to stay on schedule, due
to the unscheduled nature of emergencies,
occasional delays do occur. We hope you will
understand when this does happen.
If you are unable to keep your appointment,
please cancel as far in advance as possible so
that another patient may take your appointment
time.
|
Patients who come to the clinic to see a
provider during normal office hours without an
appointment should not expect to be seen right
away. If your Primary Care Physician is with
patients that have appointments, you may be
offered an appointment with one of our Physician
Assistants or Nurse Practitioners. Even then
there may be a waiting period. Walk-in patients
during normal business hours will be worked into
the schedule as time permits.
Certain GMG clinics offer urgent care after
normal office hours. The Urgent Care Clinic at
720 Pleasanton Road (Main Clinic) is usually
open from 5:00pm to 8:00pm during weeknights,
from 9:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays, and from
10:00am to 2:00pm on Sundays.The Urgent Care
Clinic at 7616 Culebra Road (Northwest Clinic)
is open weeknights from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, and on
Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
Patients who come to Urgent Care will be seen on
a first-come, first-served basis. |
Telephone Calls
 |
Forms Completion
 |
Our physicians make every effort to see their
patients at their scheduled appointment times.
Most likely, they will not be available to take
your calls during office hours. Messages will be
taken and your call will be returned as soon as
possible. If your call is of an emergent nature,
please let the operator know and she will
transfer your call to the nurse immediately. If
you have developed a complication or new
problem, please understand that you may need to
come in for an office examination.
|
If you have special forms that you would like
completed by your doctor, there will be a charge
for this service (minimum of $50.00). These
forms include private insurance forms,
disability forms, as well as special forms for
work and/or financial institutions. |

Medication Refills |
Hospitalization
 |
GMG requests that you contact your pharmacy for
all medication refills. The pharmacist will then
contact your Primary Care Physician. Refills
will be approved during normal office hours
only. Please allow at least 48 hours! Narcotic
prescriptions will only be authorized by your
Primary Care Physician (not by an on-call
doctor) and only during normal office hours (not
on weekends or during Urgent Care clinic hours).
Remember: Always bring your medications with you
each time you have an office visit. |
If you require hospitalization, your doctor will
make the arrangements for your admission, or you
will be asked to go to the hospital emergency
room for evaluation. GMG uses “Hospitalists” to
manage the inpatient care for our patients.
“Hospitalists” are physicians who specialize in
the treatment and management of patients who are
admitted to hospitals. Your Primary Care
Physician specializes in outpatient treatment
and therefore usually does not see patients in
the hospital. |

Referrals |
| As required by your insurance plan, you may need
to be evaluated by your PCP before a referral to
a specialist can be generated. We attempt to
obtain authorization for Emergent/Urgent
REFERRALS within 24 hours or less. Authorization
for your routine referrals usually takes between
3 TO 5 DAYS, but can take longer. Patients will
be sent letters with their referral information.
Patients are also expected to make their own
appointments with the specialists. |
