In December 2025, we officially celebrated the designation award for a portion of Pleasanton Rd. (Gonzaba Medical District) as Dr. Bill Gonzaba Memorial Way. This special commemoration, honored by the City of San Antonio and usually awarded posthumously, recognizes Dr. Bill Gonzaba’s achievements, dedication, and enduring legacy to the Southside senior community.

The designation includes several blocks along Pleasanton Rd., including the Gonzaba Medical Group Main Medical Center, Urgent Care – Main, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center, Specialty Center – Main, Event Center – South, and more.

A legacy more than 65 years in the making, what was once a one-room clinic has grown into a 10-facility medical organization that spans beyond healthcare. Raised on the Southeast side, Dr. Gonzaba recognized early on the urgent need for accessible, compassionate healthcare among his neighbors. That calling became his life’s work. Reflecting on the designation, Dr. Gonzaba shared, “I am humbled by this recognition and honorary designation. Most importantly, this serves as a symbolic reminder that we will always deliver our mission with integrity, respect, and compassion.”

Community has always been at the heart of the Gonzaba Difference. Today, his commitment continues to expand. The recent opening of Gonzaba Medical Group’s 10th facility on Goliad Road at Southcross—located in the same Sunny Slope neighborhood where his journey began—brings his mission full circle. This new facility directly serves the very community that inspired his passion to heal, ensuring generations to come will benefit from accessible, high-quality care.

This commemorative designation stands as more than a street sign—it is a lasting symbol of purpose, perseverance, and profound community impact. It reflects a promise kept and a mission that continues to guide Gonzaba Medical Group’s work in San Antonio, through healthcare and beyond. Thank you for being part of our ongoing legacy.
