At Gonzaba Medical Group, we believe in preventative healthcare for our patients that extends outside of the clinic. With our coordinated care model, patients benefit from having not only primary and specialty providers under the same roof but also an event center that brings community into their everyday lives.

National Public Health Week (NPHW)  is observed April 7th-13th and is dedicated to highlighting key public health topics identified by the American Public Health Association  in effort to bring awareness to them.

This year’s topics are:

This year’s NPHW key topic It Starts Here, Your Health is Our Mission, aligns with Gonzaba’s values. It emphasizes the importance of community, healthy eating and prioritizing health at every level. It emphasizes that your health starts with yourself and your community.

In this article, we will be diving into how Gonzaba can help you take control of your healthcare starting at the personal level through various preventative and active lifestyle resources.

Gonzaba provides two event centers, and soon to be three, that offer free activities ranging from exercise classes to craft days as well as food giveaways and cooking classes to keep you healthy.

Gonzaba primary care providers encourage patients to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle while adhering to their individualized healthcare plan.

Julian Falla is an internal medicine specialist at Gonzaba Medical Group.Patients who are faithful to taking their medication and following doctor’s instructions to the best of their abilities will definitely enjoy better outcomes in their health and as they age that translates into better quality of life.” – Dr. Julian Falla, Internal Medicine, Main Medical Center

Dr. Falla, a primary care provider at Gonzaba who specializes in internal medicine, tells us that the long-term effectiveness of a medication is dependent on the level of compliance with mediation instructions provided by a doctor.

Dr. Falla knows his patients have busy schedules and remembering to take medications can easily slip their minds. He suggests the following tips and tricks to help you maintain healthy habits:

  • Create a daily routine to get into the habit of taking your medication
  • Place your medication somewhere they have frequent contact with, like the night table, kitchen counter or dining table
  • When taking multiple medications, it can be effective to use a pillbox to organize daily doses
  • Use your cell phone as a tool to set reminders
  • Set your refill settings to 90-day supply with your pharmacy

At Gonzaba, providing high quality healthcare to our patients is our  top priority. We want to ensure that your medications are working to improve your quality of life. If you have any questions, our team of healthcare professionals are always ready to help get them answered.

Public health starts with each of us making a difference in our homes and communities. It’s how the places we live, work and play affect our well-being. It’s the way we are all stronger—and healthier—together through the efforts of organizations like the American Public Health Association and others that advocate for healthy communities.” (National Public Health Week)
